The Mental Health Network is a student run network that sits on the equalities council at the student union. We run events and campaigns throughout the academic year and respond to feedback from students which we can run by the SU or college to instigate improvements in wellbeing services.

We work alongside;
Black and Minority Ethnic Network
Disability Network

Women's Network
International Network

All members of the Equalities Council are democratically elected by the student body at the end of each academic year.

Hi, I'm James, your mental health chair at RHUL! I'm passionate about raising awareness around the 'dark' areas of mental health; the aspects that often fly under the radar when it comes to the discussion of mental health. I think it's paramount to raise awareness to all the ways mental health difficulties impact individuals; just because a disorder isn't as readily talked about as another, it does not negate from that individual's experience or ability to speak out regarding their experiences! Mental health can affect anyone, and everyone's experience is so deeply personal and individual, so it is vital we make it clear that anyone should be able to talk about their journey without fear or surrounding stigma!  On top of this, over the course of the year, I plan to work closely with your other equality reps to run campaigns that identify and raise awareness to how the experiences of mental health differ for individuals in specific minority groups. I aim to make the discussion around mental health as inclusive and accessible as possible on campus, to demonstrate that we are united under one common banner when it comes to the discourse and promoting change around mental health!

Vice Chair
Hello, I'm Lucy, a third year psychology student. Mental health is something that belongs to everyone. Whether you live with a clinical diagnosis or not. I'm really keen to promote different ways in which we can all help to take care of our health, both physical and mental as one does not exist without the other. It's also important to me that we do not let people get lost in the mass of problems that are being faced by everyone today. It is crucial that we all take care of our mental health, but also important to remember for many people, it is not as simple to stay well as it is for the majority of the population, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, tricotillomania, borderline personality disorder, are a few of many possible disorders that significantly impact on people's lives but are the least spoken about aspects of mental health, despite being amongst the some of the most difficult conditions to live with and permeate every aspect of those individual's lives.
