Where to find help at RHUL:

Counselling -

They normally reply within a few hours during working hours. They are open 9am-4pm. Counselling are a free and confidential service provided by the university and are separate to the NHS. They deal with every possible issue from mild stress, homesickness to serious issues such as sexual abuse. They can also refer you to more specialist services if they feel it is needed.

Disability and Dyslexia Services (DDS

Contact DDS to seek support with your studies in relation to any disability including mental health. They have a dedicated mental health advisor you can talk to about support you can access for your condition.

Health Centre – register with the health centre to get medical help from a GP. NB: for those living off campus, there are surgeries in the Egham and Englefield Green areas as well.


Wellbeing: speak to the wellbeing team for any concerns regarding yourself or others. This team can help you with drinking, drugs or mental health problems. They can also help you figure out which services are best for you.

London Nightline

Confidential listening, support and practical information service for students in London and Open University. All helpline volunteers are students themselves, who have undergone extensive training and who understand that university life isn’t always plain sailing. Support can also be provided via email, instant messaging (via pop up on website) and Skype.

An NHS provision, crisis line can provide urgent care from trained professionals and direct you to a suitable healthcare provider. Can also put you in direct contact with the home treatment team.
